We had a great day and well-attended seminar today near Bedford. Mandy Dance was our guest speaker and she kept everyone interested with a good mix of humour and practical experience. Everyone received an almond, which will surely remind them of the correct shape of a Dachshund’s eye!

Many of the participants also took the Breed Council’s written exam paper and everyone passed. Three people achieved 100%. Well done to everyone.

A huge thank you to the ECDA team who helped with the catering and to Minna for her organisation of the whole day. Thanks also to those who brought Dachshunds to be “models” for the hands-on session.

Eastern Counties Dachshund Association will be holding a Breed Seminar jointly with the Beagle Association on Saturday 14th May 2011.

The Seminar is intended to be an educational event, not a Judging Assessment and is an ideal opportunity to learn about Dachshunds and Beagles, without the pressure of assessments or exam papers.

Jeff Horswell (Drakesleat Mini Wires) will be the speaker on Dachshunds and Wendy Hall (Cliffmere Beagles) will be the speaker on Beagles.

The venue is Roade Village Hall, Bailey Brook Lane, Roade, Northants. NN7 2LT. This is easy to find, just off the M1 Junction 15 and is a venue already used for dog club events, including Shows. [maps at: www.roadevillage.com]

A buffet lunch is included in the ticket price of £15, together with morning coffee and afternoon tea.

In the afternoon, everyone will have the chance to go over a selection of Dachshunds and Beagles, with guidance from their owners, in a practical hands-on session.

The Seminar starts at 10:00, with coffee being served from 09:30. The afternoon session will finish no later than 16:00.

If you would like to attend, please complete the Booking Form here and send a cheque, payable to Eastern Counties Dachshund Association. Tickets will not be posted, but you will receive confirmation of your booking.

The Miniature Dachshund Club and Eastern Counties Dachshund Association will be holding a Breed Seminar and Assessment event on Sunday 7th March 2010.

The Seminar is an ideal opportunity to learn about Dachshunds, whatever your current knowledge and experience. Di Moate (Dianamo MW) will be the guest speaker talking about the revised Breed Standard, conformation and movement and how to judge a Dachshund. Judging responsibilities with regard to health and welfare will also be covered. Everyone will have the chance to go over a selection of dogs, with guidance from experienced breeders and Championship Show judges, in a practical “hands-on” session. The Breed Council’s written assessment paper can also be taken by anyone who wishes to.

For those who meet the Breed Council’s criteria (*), there will be an opportunity to be assessed and, if successful, have your name put forward for the A2 Judging List when you have completed 3 successful assessments and meet all other relevant criteria. Only 5 assessment places are available and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

The venue is The Roecroft Centre, Stotfold, near Baldock, Herts. (SG5 4NE) This is easy to find, just off the A1 and is a venue already used for dog club events.

A buffet lunch is included in the ticket price of £12 (£15 for those who wish to be assessed), together with morning coffee and afternoon tea. Comprehensive handouts on the Breed Standard will also be provided.

The Seminar starts at 10:00, with refreshments being served from 09:30.

Numbers are strictly limited, so if you would like to attend, please complete the Booking Form below and send a cheque, payable to Eastern Counties Dachshund Association. (Confirmation of your booking and directions to the venue will be posted or e-mailed).
