Percy Norton will be 100 on 27th December. He was at our Open Show today and we took the opportunity to begin his Birthday celebrations.  Percy cut the cake and and received a card signed by everyone at the show.  This is the second “big Birthday” we’ve celebrated at ECDA this year; Jean Matthews, our President, was 90.  There must be something in the water in the Eastern Counties!

It is with great sadness that we have to report the death of former Committee member Maurice Endersby (Mowbray Wires and Mini Smooths).  Maurice served for many years on our ECDA Committee and retired a couple of years ago, due to ill-health.

Sadly, Maurice passed away yesterday morning; he was taken from his Nursing Home into hospital, but there was nothing they could do.

He will be remembered as a real gentleman with a wicked sense of humour and someone who always called a spade a spade.

Our thoughts are with Pat and her family at this difficult time.

The following has been published in the Grenadier Guards’ Weekly Bulletin:

2624085 Maurice Ronald Endersby of the Cambridgeshire Branch sadly lost his last fight on 21st February 2012 (aged 87) he leaves a wife, son, step daughter and step son and his beloved grandchildren. A 5th Battalion Man who did the Anzio landing and fought up through Italy on to the liberation of Rome. Immensely proud of the Regiment and the British Legion. His funeral is at Harwood Park Crematorium at Stevenage, on Tuesday 6th of March at 4.15pm and afterwards at the Marquis of Granby, Baldock Road, Stevenage. Family flowers only and any donations to the C2Ward Funds, Addenbrooks Hospital (c/o G & H Seamer, 47 High St, Sandy, Beds SG19 1AG – this being to help the Cancer children’s ward at the hospital where one of our grandchildren (aged 8) is fighting Leukaemia. Maurice was a wonderful man, strong, stubborn!!!! called a spade a spade but had a heart of gold. I (his wife) have lost my rock, my friend and the love of my life. His ashes at his request will be taken back to Italy to rest with his fallen comrades from WW2.

Eagle of Dunkerque (born 24/05/43) owned by Joan Littmoden

We are saddened to announce the death of our Patron Joan Littmoden today.  Joan was 94 this year and was also Patron of the Miniature Dachshund Club and the Great Joint Dachshund Association.

Joan’s famous Wendlitt affix is behind many of today’s Miniature Smooth-haired Dachshunds.

Our thoughts are with her family at this difficult time.
