Eastern Counties Dachshund Association November 6th 2011

Judge: Susan Holt (Waldmeister)

Miniautre Wire Haired Dachshunds

Puppy 3(1)

1st and B.O.B. Shone’s Hanishan Eau Classique

Pin wire bitch with lovely outline. Super head and expression, moderate angles, pleasing front and good bone. Happy, outgoing temperament which showed in her confident, striding action, and gained her Best of Breed over some of the more mature exhibits. Topline just needs to settle. B.O.B. and B.P.

2nd Punter’s Welcumen Imagination

Another with a very good coat and pretty head. Well rounded front, standing true and moving with enthusiasm. Preferred top and underline of 1st.

Junior 4 (2)

1st Daykins Ashridge Dun Danzin at Barratini

Compact bitch with attractive head and expression. Good front and shoulders, well ribbed and moved soundly. Well presented and handled, would have just preferred a bit more confidence.

2nd Warren’s Gackles Gossamer

Good coated brindle bitch of moderate proportions. She was carrying too much weight, which spoiled her outline on the move.

Yearling 4 (3)

1st Daykins Ashridge Dun Danzin at Barratini

Post Graduate 5 (3)

1st Dunn’s Ashridge Dunn Dustine

Litter sister to winner of 2 previous classes. Similar in type and very well presented. Lovely outline, looked a picture standing, moderate angles, moved soundly but lacked confidence, which meant that she did not “flow” on the move.

2nd Warren’s Gackles Gossamer

Limit 7 (4)

1st Punter’s Welcumen Jeremy

2 year old male with well made front, good top and underline, well angulated and ribbed back. Moved soundly but lacked drive and “oomph”. R.B.O.B.

2nd Shone’s Hanishan Plenty O’Toole

Sound bitch of pleasing proportions with good coat and very exuberant temperament, which resulted in her losing her topline on the move.

3rd Moore’s Danvichar Euphrasia

Open 6 (4)

1st Shone’s Winston Bryn

Upstanding male with a robust, workmanlike look. Nothing exaggerated, balanced throughout with a lovely head and expression. Free striding, confident mover with good width both ways. Changed handlers for the challenge and wasn’t co-operating.

2nd Dunn’s Barratini Bumble at Ashridge

Dark brindle bitch who presented a beautiful outline standing. Pleasing to go over with good front and shoulders, strong topline, well ribbed and good rear angulation. Was a lot less positive on the move than the 1st and did not look happy in the hall.

Smooth Haired Dachshunds

Puppy 3(0)

1st and BP Ellis’ Tealby Red Between the Lines

8 months red male, balanced throughout with good length of leg which he used well to stride out. Pleasing head, sufficient front and moderate angles, still very much a baby but everything in the right place for future development.

2nd Seago & Gibbard Amlida Dramatiker

Red male of slightly bigger proportions, with a pleasing head. Well put together and kept a good outline on the move. Preferred leg length of 1st.

3rd Lovick Gibbs Amlida Wright Design for Roletta

Junior 6 (1)

1st Best of Breed and Best in Show Johnson’s Bonavoir Timestoria at Africandawns

15 months black and tan bitch of beautiful proportions. Lovely size, well put together without any exaggeration. Super to handle, everything flows into graceful curves, in lovely condition and drove from strong hocks, keeping her super outline. B.O.B. Pleased to see her go Best in Show.

2nd Burke and Manston’s Bonavoir Time Lord

Another quality youngster, brother to first. Presented a lovely outline standing and moving, with good angles, true movement and good topline. R.B.O.B

3rd Buckingham’s Dablea Imagine The Gossip

Yearling 4 (1)

1st Seago & Gibbard’s Gameron Right Note for Amlida

Liked both the first two, first was more confident so presented a better outline on the move. Pretty, red bitch with pleasing oval front and good ribbing. Kept a good topline moving and was sound both ways.

2nd Buckingham’s Dablea Black Magic

Black and tan, very promising youngster with lovely angles, good front and balanced outline. Nothing overdone, just needs to develop confidence to complete the picture.

Post Graduate 1 (0)

1st Ellis’s Tealby Little Dorrit

Black and tan bitch of moderate size. Feminine head and good height to length ratio, moved sound and true with good muscle to quarters.

Limit 3 (1)

1st Elliss’s Tealby Tittle Tattle

Black and tan bitch with class and elegance. Good temperament, kind expression and good head carriage. In gleaming condition, correct oval front, moved sound and free.

2nd Graham’s Gameron Simply Red

Bigger type and another with a very good temperament. Pleasing to go over, everything in the right place, moved happily with a good stride, just preferred the elegance of 1st.

Open 4 (3)

Black and tan male. Honest dog of moderate proportions, good angles and ribbing, kept a good topline and moved out well.

Long Haired Dachshunds

Red bitch of lovely proportions keeping a lovely oultine both standing and moving. Pretty head and elegant neck, moderate angles used well to produce sound, steady movement. R.B.O.B.

2nd Chapman’s Melminds Miss Dior

7 months puppy, still very raw but lots to like. Well bodied, good bone, well put together and lovely to handle on the table. When settled, moved soundly with good width fore and aft.

3rd Johnson’s Africandawns Cornice

Yearling 6 (2)

1st Marks Labbadax Anastazio

Black and tan male presenting a moderate outline with sufficient angles and pleasing front construction. Moved with verve and energy.

2nd Hagan & Borsuk’s What a Corker

Black and tan male with a good coat and not overdone in any department. His exuberance on the move tended to spoil his outline at times.

3rd Smith’s Xanadu Out of the Dark

Post Graduate 5 (0)

1st Champans Melminds El Matate

Black and tan bitch pleasing in all departments, balanced and not overdone. Pretty head into well laid shoulders with a lovely flow into an elegant neck. Moved free and effortlessly.

Open 6 (0)

1st Dare’s Africandawns Kisses at Darsoms

Super black and tan male with lovely head carriage and soft expression. Outgoing, happy temperament and super to handle – my notes say “all of a piece”. Moved like a train, keeping his outline and showing his pads. B.O.B and R.B.I.S.

2nd Chapmans Darsoms Ziana at Melminds

Red bitch, neatly put together with a pretty head and clean outline. Moved like she could go all day, with well muscled rear being put to good use to propel her round the ring with style.

Black and tan MS bitch with a lovely front, in gleaming condition with a well muscled rear. Moved with drive and verve, just preferred extra ground clearance of the 1st.

3rd Philips Minimead Montmorency at Daxphilly

Junior Handling 6 to 10 Years 1 (0)

1st Katie Cardew-Ergis

Still developing her confidence, this young handler listened carefully to instructions and encouraged her dog well. She moved at the right pace for the dog and just needs to keep practising to improve her placement of the dog on the floor and table.

Junior Handling 11 to 16 Years 1 (0)

1st Bryony Fossett

This handler was at one with her charge, listening to instructions, ensuring she kept the dog in the judge’s view at all times and sympathetically encouraging the dog to get the best out of him. She stood and moved him to advantage, keeping the lead out of the way and ensuring he was paying attention. Best Junior Handler.
